MS POWERPOINT XP LEVEL 2

Important Prerequisite:  You must pass the MS PowerPoint Prove It!® Test in order to register for this workshop.

MS POWERPOINT XP LEVEL 2 is an intensive 2-day computer workshop.  It includes a morning instructor-led session and an afternoon lab. It will generally follow this agenda:

DAY 1
 
9:00-9:30 Introduction, attendance, quick overview of concepts and techniques to be used later in the workshop
9:30 - 10:30 Creating a custom template (changing the slide background, inserting graphics, adding a footer, formatting bullets, modifying the Slide Master)
10:30 - 10:45 BREAK
10:45 - 1:00 Creating presentations with special effects (rotating, flipping, combining and separating objects, changing the order of objects, inserting a sound clip, applying a custom animation to an object and changing the order of animation)
1:00-2:00 LUNCH BREAK
2:00-4:00 LAB (participants have a chance to practice the material taught in the morning session)
 
DAY 2
 
9:00-9:30 Warm-up and review of difficult material from Day 1 (if needed)
9:30-10:30 Delivering a presentation (sending slides to MS Word, using pointer and pen during a presentation, using Meeting Minder, setting up a show to run automatically, preparing a presentation to take it on the road)
10:30-10:45 BREAK
10:45-11:45 Creating presentations for the Web (adding hyperlinks, adding an MS Excel chart or an MS Word table to a slide, publishing a presentation to the Web and viewing it)
11:45-12:45 Reviewing a presentation (creating a presentation from a Word outline, sending a presentation for review via a server, reviewing a presentation, applying reviewer changes)
1:00-2:00 LUNCH BREAK
2:00-4:00 LAB (participants have a chance to practice the material taught in the morning session)

PREREQUISITES

  1. Attention to details and good ability to follow written instructions

  2. Solid basic computer skills:
    • opening and closing a program
    • clicking, double-clicking and right-clicking
    • selecting (highlighting) text
    • minimizing and maximizing windows
    • scrolling up and down, left and right
    • finding files on and saving them to a floppy or hard drive
       
  3. Previous experience with PowerPoint 2002 or 2003 (at least 10 hours) and familiarity with the following:
    • opening and running a slide presentation
    • working with Task Pane
    • adding new slides with certain layouts, hiding slides, and deleting slides
    • entering, editing and aligning text on a slide; demoting and promoting bullets
    • adding Speaker Notes
    • inserting clip art
    • applying a color scheme and design templates
    • adding transition effects and animation to a slide show

***Note: If you want to save and take home some of your class work, please bring 2 blank floppy disks, IBM compatible.
